Video Guide to Houseing Pet Rabbits

I just found this awsome video put together by the Happy Hoppers Rabbit Forum. It is ram packed full of great housing tips, ideas and suggestions for keeping pet rabbits the right way both inside and out.

Seriously if you have rabbits or your thinking about it take a loook at this. There are also some great ideas for building your own rabbit hutchs, converting shed, or keeping them indoors. Also you should join the Happy Hoppers Forum!

Here are the main points.

1) For a pair of rabbits you need large rabbit hutches at least 6ft x 2ft x 2ft

2) Rabbits need lots of room to excercise, run and play, they should have a big Rabbit hutch and run, and/or access to a large secure run most of the time.

3) If you are keeping house rabbits you need to bunny proof your home!

Take a look at the video it is great

Update on Pact Rescue Rabbits Norfolk

Here is the latest update from the rabbit wefare association and fund regarding the 74 rabbits rescued in norfolk, A big thank you to everyon who has helped.

The final total of rabbits taken out of the most appalling conditions now total 74.  These range from tiny babies to adults.  Typical accommodation for 8 rabbits were hutches measuring 24 x 18 x 8 deep.

At least 30 females were running with bucks, so it is estimated that there will be approximately 250 rabbits to house and feed within the next two months.  Sadly one doe has already aborted her litter,  some rabbits  have Syphilis, some have snuffles and there are 4 suspected cases of myxi.  Many rabbits have rat bites and will need antibiotics  Obviously all of these bunnies are segregated from the resident rabbits which is a logistical nightmare.

Wood Green have pledged support to help vaccinate the rabbits in the next few days.

Following our alert, this was picked up by Maeve Moorcroft of Pets at Home who passed on the information to their charity department.  £2,000 has been pledged.  One of our members also picked up on the alert and has passed the information on to other groups and we understand that so far £1,500 has been pledged in donations.  Burgess Petcare have  today despatched a pallet of nuggetts.  A local firm have donated £1,200.00 worth of building  material to help construct a new bunny village which was already in the pipeline,  as PACT Sanctuary have an average of 100 bunnies in their care.

Hutches are desperately needed and if you are able to help, please contact George or Chris on 01362 820775.

Thank you to members who are contacting the media to gain support.

Do you Really Know how to Look after your Pet Rabbit? Take the Test

Everyone knows that any pet is a big commitment and that to look after them properly takes time, effort and money. I saw an amazing statistic last week that at least 80% of pet rabbits are not being fed correctly and many rabbit owners do not know how to care for their pet properly.

I just came across this Rabbit care test.
