Coping with the death of your rabbit
Grieving for a lost pet is natural and common for a lot of pet owners.
Since pets have less life span compared to their owners, they usually age and die way before their owners do. In raising a pet, an emotional connection builds between the pet and the pet owner. Unconsciously, the owner becomes attached to the pet more than he could ever realize, and would only realize the degree of their connection by the time the pet dies. If you happen to have a pet that died, allow yourself the time to grieve. There is no point hiding it. Express your sorrow and then move forward.

When we have lost a bunny, we donate the cost of feeding and caring for them for a year to a local bunny rescue. We send it 'in memory of' and they put a notice in their semi annual newsletter and I put that in the photo album where I have scrapped pages about that particular bunny. We have a nearly 8 year old bunny that is still going strong and when McGreggor dies, I know that our entire family will be impacted. We all love him so deeply!
What a wonderful idea!
I lost one of my bunnies just yesterday, its so hard. You become so attached to them, a part of the family. Just because they are a bit smaller than a dog or a cat it doesn't mean they mean any less or are loved less.
