I use this base either inside in winter, or as the 'lid' in the summer when I put the pen outside (I find this base much better than the netting lid that comes with the trixie pen). My base has had a lot of wear in 2 years, but it is still as good as when I bought it. A nice tough base that catches all the mess and no leaks, or a good lid that keeps your pet dry and protected.
